Ab

Lyrics & Interpretations

Ab is WATCH ]|['s most personal and vulnerable album to date. It is an intimate journey through doubt, regret, fear, hope, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Each song captures a different moment in the process of opening the heart, confronting difficult emotions, and choosing compassion over self-protection.

The title comes from the ancient Egyptian word Ab, meaning "heart." In Egyptian thought, the heart was considered the center of emotion, memory, character, and will. It represented who a person truly was. The album also draws inspiration from the related concept of Awb-Ib, the act of opening one's heart and letting down emotional defenses.

Across eleven deeply personal songs, Ab traces a path from brokenness toward healing. Rather than offering easy answers, it embraces honesty, vulnerability, and the courage to love despite uncertainty. The journey concludes not with perfection, but with gratitude, admiration, and celebration of the people who leave lasting fingerprints on our hearts.

"Break" wasn't planned.

It arrived unexpectedly while I was standing in the kitchen peeling potatoes late one evening. The opening lines came almost all at once, and I had to stop what I was doing to capture them before they disappeared.

The song was inspired by a period when someone I deeply love was suddenly and involuntarily taken out of my daily life. It wasn't the end of a relationship. It wasn't abandonment. It was a separation created by circumstances completely outside either of our control.

That distinction became the heart of the song.

The title, "Break," intentionally carries two meanings. At first it sounds like it might describe a relationship falling apart, but as the lyrics unfold it becomes clear that the "break" is something imposed from the outside—a forced interruption of connection.

Musically, I wanted the arrangement to feel like a quiet confession rather than a dramatic performance. Inspired by the warmth and emotional restraint of classic '90s contemporary R&B, every decision was made to leave space for the story. The whispered background vocals represent memories that linger just outside of reach, while the repeated chorus evolves from shock and grief into determination.

By the end of the song, "Break" is no longer just describing separation. It becomes a refusal to accept that separation as the final chapter.

"Break" explores a kind of loss that isn't often written about.

Most songs about separation focus on betrayal, distance, or the end of love. This song comes from a different place: loving someone who is still yours while being unable to reach them.

The opening verses catalogue the ordinary things we rarely notice until they're gone—seeing a smile, hearing a name, feeling a touch, simply being in someone's presence. These aren't grand gestures; they're the quiet moments that define everyday intimacy. Only when they're suddenly absent do they reveal their true value.

The recurring phrase "Time Denied" reflects the central idea of the song. Time isn't portrayed as something that heals or deceives. Instead, it becomes something withheld. Moments that should have been shared simply never happened, leaving behind an absence that cannot be recovered.

The repeated chorus serves a different emotional purpose each time it appears. It begins as disbelief, becomes grief, and ultimately transforms into resolve. The final verses reject the idea that this involuntary separation will determine the future, shifting the song from mourning toward hope and determination.

At its core, "Break" is a reminder that love is often measured not by extraordinary moments, but by the countless ordinary moments we assume will always be there. When those moments are suddenly interrupted, we discover just how much they meant all along.

Every day I embrace your shadow
Prayin’ for the chance to feel
A chance to breathe
A chance to see your smile

I try to support and lift you up
Try to be there through it all
To be the man
The captain that you need

Sometimes I fear that ship has sailed

And I
I wish I could calm the storm
Pull you from the rain
Take away the hurt
That keeps callin’ out your name

Though the clouds keep raining darkness
I still long to see your eyes
And though these problems feel unending
Wish I could take away your pain

I watch you struggle
I watch you fight
I notice every second
How with all your strength
You survive

I know I’ve made mistakes along this journey
Regrets like mountains I can’t climb
But all I want
Is one more chance to show you

I’m here to be your love and light

To help you stand when you are stumbling
Find the handle you can’t reach
I can’t imagine how you survive this
But I still carry the tears you hide

And I
Wish I could calm the storm
Pull you from the rain
Take away the hurt
That keeps callin’ out your name

Though the clouds keep raining darkness
I still long to see your eyes
And though these problems feel unending
Wish I could take away your pain

I watch you struggle
I watch you fight
I notice every second
How with all your strength

Girl

I know that you’re hurtin’
This pain
No answers got you down

Nobody sees you wrenching through it
Nobody knows the weight you hold

Only you
Been locked in shackles
Trapped inside a war unseen

And every day you rise against it
Still somehow
You keep pushin’ through

You’re strong
You’re brave

A hero—
Not a slave

I see
Your fight

With all your soul
All your might

I’m here
With you

And I still believe
We can make it through

Please trust
Inside

Please give me one more try

Though the clouds keep raining darkness
I still long to see your eyes
And though these problems feel unending
Wish I could take away your pain

I watch you struggle
I watch you fight
I notice every second
How with all your strength

Closer is written from a place of pain. It is written from the perspective of a man who is feeling distant from his partner. He is describing being "so close, but yet so far." It expresses remorse, regret, and a longing for any semblance of how to improve and shrink the distance he experiences.

Feeling hopeless at times  all he wants is a chance to once again be "closer."
Closer explores intimacy, trust, and the desire to move beyond surface-level interaction.

The song reflects the natural progression of a relationship growing deeper over time.

The concept of closeness extends beyond physical proximity.

The song examines emotional vulnerability and the courage required to allow another person to truly know us.

There comes a point in life when you stop asking whether you've made mistakes and start asking whether you've learned from them.

*Fallible* was written during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. It isn't an apology letter, nor is it an attempt to justify my shortcomings. It's simply an honest acknowledgment that I am an imperfect man who has never stopped trying to become better.

The title is intentional. Rather than pretending strength comes from being flawless, this song embraces the opposite truth—that growth begins the moment we admit our imperfections.

Every verse moves through a different part of that journey. The opening reflects on blind spots that only became visible with time. The second verse acknowledges the weariness that comes from a long road traveled together. The third accepts personal failures while refusing to surrender to them.

The chorus became the emotional anchor of the song. Repeating "I'm Fallible" isn't self-condemnation. It's acceptance. Every repetition is followed by determination: to keep trying, to keep climbing, and to earn trust through actions rather than promises.

Musically, I imagined the warmth and sophistication of 1990s contemporary R&B—music that never needed to shout because the emotion lived in the performance. The arrangement leaves room for silence, allowing every lyric to breathe before the next thought arrives.

The final lines are perhaps the most important in the entire song. Rather than ending with a dramatic declaration of love, it ends with something much quieter:

*"I'm here... with you."*

Sometimes love is not proven through perfect words or grand gestures. Sometimes the greatest promise we can make is simply to remain present.

*Fallible* is my reminder that perfection has never been the goal. Becoming a better man has.

At its heart, *Fallible* explores the difference between guilt and growth.

Many songs about regret either dwell on shame or search for forgiveness. This song chooses a different path. It recognizes that imperfection is part of being human, but it refuses to let imperfection become an excuse for standing still.

The opening imagery—fading shadows, remorse, reflections, and reaching toward a familiar voice—captures the moment when self-awareness replaces denial. The song isn't about discovering someone else's faults; it's about finally seeing your own with clarity.

The repeated declaration, "I'm Fallible," serves as both confession and liberation. Rather than hiding behind pride or collapsing into self-condemnation, the narrator accepts responsibility while continuing to move forward. Each return of the chorus reinforces the same idea: growth is measured by perseverance, not perfection.

Throughout the song, everyday images carry symbolic meaning. Worn tires represent a relationship that has endured distance, hardship, and exhaustion but continues moving. A comet in someone's orbit speaks to the profound influence another person can have on our lives—not by controlling us, but by changing the direction of our journey.

The breakdown strips away almost everything except determination. The repeated words—trying, pushing, improving—mirror the internal dialogue of someone refusing to become trapped by yesterday's failures. The song deliberately avoids dramatic resolutions because real change rarely happens in a single moment. It is built one decision at a time.

The closing refrain, "I'm here... with you," shifts the focus from promises to presence. It suggests that love is ultimately demonstrated through consistency, humility, and the willingness to remain present even after mistakes have been made.

*Fallible* is ultimately a song about hope. It acknowledges brokenness without surrendering to it, reminding us that our flaws may shape our story, but they never have to write its ending.

Some songs are written from imagination. Others emerge from moments that permanently change how we see the world.

*I See You* is about what can happen when life suddenly reminds us that "nothing and no one" is guaranteed. It explores the realization that we often become so focused on conflict, expectations, routines, or our own perspective that we unintentionally overlook the people standing beside us.

At its heart, this is a song about awakening.

The lyrics begin with shock and uncertainty before turning inward. Rather than assigning blame, the song asks a difficult question: *What if I failed to fully appreciate the person who was there all along?* That question becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

The repeated confession, *"I never did appreciate..."* is intentionally simple. Each repetition moves beyond appreciating someone's presence to recognizing their spirit, kindness, warmth, and humanity. It reflects the understanding that love is not only expressed through words, but through genuinely seeing another person for who they are.

The title, *I See You*, carries several meanings. It is about recognition, understanding, empathy, and choosing to become more present in a relationship. By the end of the song, those three words have transformed from a quiet realization into a joyful declaration of gratitude and hope.

Musically, the arrangement mirrors that emotional journey. It begins with restraint and vulnerability, allowing the listener to sit with the weight of reflection before gradually expanding into a fuller, warmer sound. The final chorus isn't meant to feel triumphant because a problem has been solved—it feels uplifting because a new perspective has been found.

Ultimately, *I See You* is a reminder that appreciation should never be postponed. The people we love are not simply part of our daily routines; they are gifts whose value can easily be overlooked until life reminds us how precious they truly are.

Sometimes the most powerful words we can say to another person are also the simplest:

**I see you.**

The Grey was written during a period of profound uncertainty. Inspired by WATCH ]|['s own experiences, along with the stories of loved ones facing difficult seasons in close relationships, the song reflects what it feels like to live without clear answers.

Rather than telling one specific story, *The Grey* captures the emotional experience of waiting—wondering whether circumstances will improve, whether healing is possible, and whether hope can outlast uncertainty. It was intentionally written to be universal, allowing listeners to bring their own experiences into the spaces between the lyrics.

At its core, *The Grey* is a song about living between certainty and resolution. The recurring question, *"Will the seasons change?"*, becomes a metaphor for every moment when life feels suspended between what was and what might be.

The changing seasons, cirrus clouds, migrating birds, and sunrise all symbolize the hope that difficult seasons eventually give way to renewal. In contrast, the color grey represents emotional limbo—a place where answers are incomplete and the future remains uncertain.

Perhaps the song's most vulnerable moment comes with the simple request for "just a smile" and "participation." Rather than asking for dramatic change, the narrator longs for small signs of connection, reminding us that hope is often sustained by the smallest acts of reciprocity.

The closing image of "Monarch wings I gently cradle, or let go" captures the central tension of the song: the delicate balance between holding onto something deeply cherished and recognizing that love sometimes requires releasing control. *The Grey* offers no easy answers. Instead, it acknowledges a truth familiar to many—that some of life's hardest moments are not defined by conflict or defeat, but by waiting, hoping, and searching for the first hint of color beyond the grey.

Some songs arrive all at once. Others spend a long time teaching you what they're really about.

In My Own Way* began as a question that many people quietly carry through relationships: *What if the love I'm giving isn't being recognized because it doesn't look the way someone expects it to?

Rather than defending itself or assigning blame, the song leans into vulnerability. It acknowledges imperfection, misunderstanding, broken promises, and the fear of not being enough. Yet beneath all of it remains a simple choice: to keep loving with sincerity, even when that love isn't fully understood.

Musically, the arrangement was built to feel intimate from the very first note. Warm Rhodes piano, expressive bass, restrained drums, and layered harmonies allow the vocal to remain the emotional center. Instead of dramatic theatrics, the performance favors honesty, letting quiet moments carry as much weight as the larger choruses.

The title became the emotional anchor for the entire song. "In my own way" isn't an excuse or a defense. It's an acknowledgment that people don't always express love in the same language. Sometimes love is spoken through words. Sometimes through sacrifice, loyalty, presence, or persistence.

This song is for anyone who has ever wondered whether their love was invisible simply because it looked different.

*In My Own Way* explores one of the most difficult realities in relationships: two people can genuinely love each other while experiencing that love in completely different ways.

The verses introduce someone searching for answers rather than making accusations. There is no attempt to rewrite history or prove innocence. Instead, the narrator wrestles with an unsettling possibility: *What if I've been giving everything I know how to give, but it still isn't reaching the person I love?*

The recurring phrase, "Maybe I love in different colors. Maybe I speak another way," becomes the emotional thesis of the song. It suggests that love is not always absent when it feels absent. Sometimes it is simply translated through a different emotional language.

As the song progresses, vulnerability deepens into self-reflection. The narrator recognizes flaws, broken promises, emotional distance, and moments of failure without abandoning hope. This isn't a portrait of perfection. It's the story of someone choosing accountability while refusing to let imperfection erase genuine love.

The bridge marks the turning point. Rather than defending past mistakes, the narrator acknowledges them and makes a quiet commitment to become better. Growth becomes an expression of love instead of an attempt to earn acceptance.

The final chorus transforms longing into resolve. Even faced with uncertainty and the possibility of never being fully understood, the narrator chooses to remain faithful to who they are. Love becomes a conscious decision rather than a transaction based on whether it is returned or recognized.

The closing whispers leave the listener with an unresolved truth. Sometimes the deepest expressions of love are the ones that go unnoticed. Yet their value is not determined by whether they are seen. They remain real because they were given sincerely.

Within the context of **Ab**, this song embodies the ancient Egyptian understanding of the heart as the seat of emotion, memory, intention, and will. An open heart is powerful precisely because it accepts the risk of being misunderstood. *In My Own Way* is not simply about loving someone else. It is about having the courage to love authentically, even when there is no guarantee that love will ever be fully recognized.

Invisible Man explores the experience of feeling unseen despite being physically present.

The song was inspired by moments when individuals struggle to be recognized for who they truly are rather than how others perceive them.

Visibility functions on multiple levels:

  • Social recognition
  • Emotional validation
  • Personal identity
  • Human connection

The song examines the loneliness that occurs when one's inner world remains hidden from those around them.

It asks what happens when a person begins to disappear not physically, but emotionally.

Some songs are written one line at a time. Others arrive almost fully formed. "Procrastination" was one of those songs.

It began with a single thought: what if procrastination isn't only about putting off tasks? What if it also means postponing the conversations that matter most, assuming there will always be another tomorrow?

That question became the heart of the song.

Rather than focusing on everyday procrastination, the lyrics explore emotional hesitation. The fear of saying what needs to be said. The assumption that there will always be more time. The realization that life can change in an instant, leaving words trapped inside long after they should have been spoken.

Musically, the song leans into the warmth of 90s-inspired contemporary R&B, allowing space between the phrases for reflection. The pauses become as important as the lyrics themselves. Silence carries weight because regret often lives in the spaces where words never came.

By the end, the song shifts away from regret and toward resolve. It doesn't promise to erase the past. Instead, it makes a quiet commitment to live differently from this moment forward.

Sometimes the hardest promise to keep is simply being present before time slips away.

At its core, "Procrastination" is not a song about laziness. It is a song about deferred vulnerability.

Throughout life, many people become fluent in expressing love through actions while struggling to express it through words. We convince ourselves there will always be another opportunity to say what our hearts already know. Tomorrow feels guaranteed until it suddenly isn't.

The recurring question, "Where did the time go," is more than a reflection on passing years. It becomes the emotional center of the song, representing the universal experience of realizing that relationships are shaped as much by the words left unsaid as the ones we speak.

The imagery reinforces this theme. Evaporation, smoke without a shadow, reflections, empty sheets, and the repeated references to breath all point toward something that cannot be held onto once it begins to disappear. Even "thermal bloom" symbolizes the longing to feel warmth and life return after believing it may be gone forever.

The breakdown marks the emotional turning point. The repeated promise, "I'll change," is intentionally simple. It avoids grand declarations in favor of a deeply human response. When confronted with the possibility of irreversible loss, our first instinct is often not to explain ourselves but to become better.

The closing line, spoken alone after the music has stopped, transforms the entire song. "...I'm here." It is no longer a plea. It is a quiet declaration of presence. After an entire song spent mourning lost time, those two words become a promise to stop waiting for tomorrow and begin showing up today.

Ultimately, "Procrastination" reminds us that the most meaningful conversations are rarely the easiest ones. Love is not only measured by what we feel or what we do, but also by our willingness to speak before silence becomes regret.

my guide

Watchillie

My life a constant uncertainty
Restless mind still searching peace in me
And though I stumble through each day once more
Mindful of the pain before
Then I see You

When darkness falls and I cant find my way
Your light remains

Timeless righteous glorious majesty
Wholesome truthful honest never will You
Lose or leave abandon me faithfully
You remain my guide

My Love
My Way
My Light

Wading through storms and relentless tragedy
Hoping, praying for what I need
Then Your wisdom gently touched my soul
Arms outstretched You made me whole
Now I see You

When all I knew was breaking into pain
Your light remained

Timeless righteous glorious majesty
Wholesome truthful honest never will You
Lose or leave abandon me faithfully
You remain my guide

My Love
My Way
My Light

Shining brightly, crowned upon my heart
Where I end is where You start
Forever changed the day You came
Nothing in this worlds the same

You saved me from the man I was
And taught me how to love because

When I was lost
You stood beside me

When I had none
You still believed

Timeless righteous glorious majesty
Wholesome truthful honest never will You
Lose or leave abandon me faithfully
You remain my guide

My heart held deep inside
My hope through every night
Forever You will be

My Love
My Way
My Light

My Guide is a personal story from Watch3 about his wife.

Her strength, sensitivity, and heart has taught me a lot over our 20+ years.

It may have been a difficult road but Watch3 has always relied on her to be his 'Guide.'

Guidance is portrayed not as control but as illumination.

The guide does not dictate the path but helps reveal possibilities that might otherwise remain unseen.

The song emphasizes gratitude for those who help us navigate uncertainty.

starting over

I've been graced with second chances
You've given out enough for miles
Always felt I was catching up
While you kept running out of grace
I was hopin you'd trust me
And to feel I got it right
But when I couldn't reach you
It set my soul a-light

Cause  today I'm starting over
My focus is you

Cause today I'm starting  over
I'm here to face the truth

Cause today I'm  starting over
Gonna do  not gonna try

Cause today

I'm grateful you're
Alive

My breath couldn't form words
Cause my mind kept me confused
I know that I hurt you
'times my silence was abuse
Doesn't matter what I meant
Only truth that you lived through
Only matters you're here now
My choice is you

Cause  today I'm starting over
My focus is you

Cause today I'm starting  over
I'm here to face the truth

Cause today I'm  starting over
Gonna do  not gonna try

Cause today

I'm grateful you're
Alive

I'm not asking for one more chance

Only asking what you need

Your life means so much more to me

I'm not asking to erase the past

I'm late but I'm here at last

Only care that you feel secure

I'm here

I'm yours

I'm

Starting over

I'm grateful

You're alive

Cause  today I'm starting over
My focus is you

Cause today I'm starting  over
I'm here to face the truth

Cause today I'm  starting over
Gonna do  not gonna try

Cause today

I'm grateful you're
Alive

And I  just want to  thank you

I just want to praise you

And I  just want to  thank you

I just want to love you

And I  just want to  thank you

You're here girl I see you

And I  just want to  thank you

You
I just want to thank you

You

I just want to thank you

You

I just want to thank you

Thank you

Some songs are written to explain the past. Others are written to ask for forgiveness. *Starting Over* was written for neither of those reasons.

At its heart, this song is about a simple but life-changing realization: intentions cannot rewrite yesterday, but actions can shape today.

The lyrics acknowledge that good intentions are not always experienced as good outcomes. There are moments in life when we look back and realize that what we meant to communicate was not what others felt. That truth can be painful, but it can also become the starting point for real growth.

Rather than asking for another chance or trying to erase what came before, *Starting Over* embraces a different path. It chooses accountability over explanation, presence over promises, and action over intention.

The repeated chorus, "Today I'm starting over," is more than a lyric. It is a daily commitment. It recognizes that meaningful change is not measured by words, but by consistent choices made one day at a time.

Musically, the song leans into the warmth of classic 90s contemporary soul and R&B, allowing the groove to carry quiet conviction instead of dramatic emotion. The arrangement intentionally creates space, inviting the listener to sit with the message rather than be overwhelmed by it.

Ultimately, *Starting Over* is a song about hope. Not the hope that yesterday can be undone, but the hope that today can become something different.

*Starting Over* explores one of the hardest truths in any relationship: intentions and impact are not always the same.

Many people spend years trying to explain why they acted the way they did. This song moves in another direction. It accepts that while intentions matter to the person giving them, lived experience matters to the person receiving them.

That perspective transforms the song from an apology into a declaration of personal responsibility.

The opening verses acknowledge falling behind, struggling to connect, and realizing that silence itself can become a source of pain. Rather than defending those moments, the lyrics simply recognize them and move forward.

The chorus becomes the emotional anchor of the song. Each repetition of "Today I'm starting over" reinforces the idea that change is not a destination reached once, but a decision renewed every day.

One of the most significant moments arrives during the breakdown:

"I'm not asking for one more chance

Only asking what you need."

Those lines represent the emotional turning point of the song. The focus shifts away from seeking reassurance and toward understanding what another person genuinely needs to feel safe, valued, and seen.

The quiet pause before "I'm grateful you're alive" serves as the emotional center of the entire piece. In that silence, gratitude replaces fear, and presence replaces regret. It reminds us that sometimes the greatest gift is simply that another person is still here, giving us the opportunity to choose differently today.

In the end, *Starting Over* is not about perfection. It is about direction.

It is a reminder that while no one can rewrite the past, every new day offers the opportunity to live differently than the day before.

Sometimes the most powerful words we can say are not "I'm sorry."

Sometimes they are simply:

"Today I'm starting over."

unknown pain warrior

Watchillie

With the sunrise
Comes another wave

Nerves on fire
Still I gotta face this day
Try to move
Try to break these heavy chains
No med-i-cation heals
What remains
Some days I feel like a shell
Prayin just for relief

Yesterday comes back again
This pain wont let me breathe

But Im still here
Still standin
Still breathin

I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
Through all the pain and shame
Im still alive
I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
Unknown PAIN Warrior
But I survive

Hundred doctors
Tryin to solve the cube
Round and round
Different doors and different rooms
Tests and papers
Another road to nowhere fast
Still no answers
Still Im asked to last

But Im still here
Still standin
Still breathin

I STILL RIIIISE
I STILL RIIISE
I STILL RIIIISE
Through all the pain and shame
Im still alive
I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
Unknown PAIN Warrior
But I survive

I see the hurricane behind your tearful hazel eyes
Wish I could give my soul my body all my life
So angry that I cant just take it all away
I see the woman that I love
Not the demon
Not the pain

Sometimes I wish this day would end
Pain my only friend
Alone I raise my hand
I need you to understand

I keep movin
YES
Fightin
YES
Tryin
YES
Cryin
YES
Risin
YES
Prayin
YES

Livin
YES
Though Im hurtin
Still Im movin

I STILL RIIIISE
I STILL RIIISE
I STILL RIIIISE
Through all the pain and shame
Im still alive
I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
Unknown PAIN Warrior
You survive
AND WE SURVIVE
I STILL RISE
I STILL RISE
Someday Ill find the cure
Till then
I rise
You rise
We rise

Unknown Pain Warrior was inspired by WATCH3's wife and individuals who carry immense burdens of chronic pain.

The song honors those who continue moving forward despite chronic pain, emotional struggles, illness, or hardship that others may never fully see.

Given your personal experiences and your wife's health journey, this song likely resonates on multiple levels.

The warrior archetype is reimagined here.

Rather than defeating visible enemies, the warrior battles unseen challenges day after day.

The song explores:

  • Chronic suffering
  • Perseverance
  • Isolation
  • Courage
  • Dignity

Its central message is that some of the strongest people in the world fight battles that leave no visible scars.

The greatest acts of bravery often occur far from public recognition.
